Geothermal Park gains international spotlight for pioneering sustainability

ON Power and the ON Geothermal Park were prominently featured in the latest editions of Sustainability Magazine and Energy Digital in an article by Steven Downes showcasing Iceland as the land of fire, ice, and climate innovation. The article, which earned the cover story in Energy Digital, highlights ON Power’s leading role in driving sustainable energy production and pioneering new solutions for the future.

A spotlight was placed on the ON Geothermal Park at the Hellisheiði Power Plant — a unique green industrial hub designed to maximize the responsible and environmentally friendly use of the plant’s resources, creating new value and opportunities for innovation, local communities, and industry. The article also profiled groundbreaking companies based in the Geothermal Park, including Carbfix, Climeworks, and VAXA, all of which are developing world-class solutions for a sustainable future, in close collaboration with ON Power and with one another.

Árni Hrannar Haraldsson, CEO of ON Power, was among those interviewed and emphasized the broader significance of this recognition: „The Geothermal Park is not just a pilot; it‘s a power station of the future, built on sustainability and ingenuity.“

This international coverage underlines the importance of Icelandic ingenuity and the tremendous opportunities our country holds in advancing the global energy transition and climate solutions.
